By the time we got to Lisbon, Portugal I think were all a little
cocky in our travel skillz, but most of us didn’t put them to much use because
we were all tired and ready to wander around taking in whatever Portugal had to
offer. Portugal was another interesting country, kind of like Malta (why the
heck did we even go to Malta?.....) I digress. I had a difficult time pinning
down exactly what “Portuguese” was, but it seemed to feel a little bit like
Spain, but more relaxed. The people were nice, time seemed slow, and finally
the sun was the perfect temperature. The days spent in Portugal were filled
with meandering the streets, surfing, visiting aquariums, and wondering how we
were ever going to get used to being in one country for longer than a week. In
Portugal we breathed in the last bit of Mediterranean freedom before finals,
sea days, and finally the end. I think I spent more time enjoying the sunsets
in this port than any of the last, and I think Portugal felt like a sunset,
beautiful yet bittersweet.
